Robert Thibault, PhD

Dr. Robert Thibault is an Open Science Consultant at the Coalition for Aligning Science (CAS). His primary role is within the open science team of Aligning Science Across Parkinson’s (ASAP), the flagship initiative at CAS designed to accelerate the pace of discovery for Parkinson’s disease through collaboration, resource generation, and data sharing.

Dr. Thibault aims to make scientific research more trustworthy, reproducible, open, and efficient. He earned a Ph.D. in Cognitive Neuroscience from McGill University, where he led a field-wide consensus to establish research standards for the field of neurofeedback. He published an edited volume—Casting Light on Brain Imaging—to improve the conduct and interpretation of neuroimaging research.

Before joining CAS, Dr. Thibault completed postdoctoral training with leaders in the field of Open Science at the Meta-Research Innovation Center at Stanford University (METRICS) and the UK Reproducibility Network at the University of Bristol. He has published extensively on how to improve scientific research, with a particular interest in study registration, statistical practice, and innovative research workflows. In 2022, he was awarded the Open Science Innovator Prize from the Center for Open and Reproducible Science at Stanford University.
