Find answers to commonly asked questions about CAS and our work below.

The Coalition for Aligning Science (CAS) is an organization that designs and implements large-scale scientific research programs. Our team of biomedical scientists works to address unmet needs and maximize research impact. Our flagship initiatives span neurological conditions, wastewater-based epidemiology, and more.

We convene diverse, multidisciplinary working groups of experts from academia, industry, government, and the patient community to strategically identify research gaps and significant challenges.

We incorporate principles of design thinking to reimagine the culture and approach to research. By focusing on multi-sector collaboration and building coalitions among partners with common goals, we enable creative, effective, and iterative problem-solving to design solutions. Additionally, we work to build a culture that facilitates access to scientific knowledge, processes, and outputs through open science.

While we are focused on rapidly unlocking discoveries and treatments, all of our work is on different timelines, with different paths to clinical impact.

CAS is a service-based organization and is not a grantor. However, CAS manages several funding opportunities through our initiatives. Please see each initiative’s respective website for more information.
